2. Account data
We process: email address, display name, user role, university year (cohort), avatar/profile image URL, and marketing communication preferences. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract performance). Retention: until account deletion or termination of the service relationship.
3. Payment and access data
We store Stripe customer IDs, subscription IDs, subscription status, trial status, current billing period end date, and — where applicable — manually granted access periods (e.g. gift access) with associated reason and duration. Billing country is collected from Stripe upon successful checkout for EU consumer law and tax compliance purposes. Card/payment details are handled exclusively by Stripe. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b)(c) GDPR. Retention: statutory period (10 years, § 147 AO Germany) for fiscal records; account-level fields until account deletion.
4. Learning and usage data
To provide the core service, we store: question attempts and selected answers, scores and graded outcomes, exam session drafts and completed results, spaced repetition state, session order and study mode, bookmarked (favourite) questions, personal question notes, XP points and achievement badges, and activity timestamps. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. Retention: until account deletion or explicit learning data reset via Profile.
5. Usage analytics and diagnostics
We collect anonymised or pseudonymised data to improve platform stability and diagnose technical issues, including: URL/route visited, browser type, operating system, device category, anonymous session identifier, UTM/campaign parameters if present, build version, and error metadata. No personally identifiable data is used for advertising profiling. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest). Retention: approximately 90 days unless needed longer for security or legal purposes.
For error monitoring we use Sentry (EU endpoint, PII scrubbing enabled, no session replay).
6. Consent records
We retain records of accepted legal document types and versions, timestamps, source page, truncated user agent, and document hash/snapshot where applicable. These records exist solely to fulfil legal proof obligations. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR (legal obligation) / Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest). Retention: indefinitely as legal evidence.
7. Email communication and gift-access campaigns
Marketing emails (consent-based): If you voluntarily consent, we may send product updates, learning tips, and access promotions. Consent is voluntary and withdrawable at any time in your Profile under "E-Mail-Einstellungen" or by emailing info@altfragen.com. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.
One-time informational emails (gift/free access): Where permitted under applicable law (e.g. § 7(3) UWG for existing users who have not opted out), we may send a single informational email about a free access grant. This does not constitute marketing and requires no prior consent, but recipients may opt out at any time. Legal basis: § 7(3) UWG / Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
For email delivery we use Resend. Technical data processed: send timestamp, recipient address, campaign identifier, message ID, and delivery status. Sender: no-reply@altfragen.com; support: info@altfragen.com. Gift campaign recipient records are retained for approximately 12–36 months.
8. Third-party processors
Where processors are located outside the EU/EEA, personal data is transferred under EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or an equivalent adequacy mechanism.
9. Your GDPR rights
You have the right to: access your data, correct inaccurate data, request erasure ("right to be forgotten"), restrict processing, receive your data in a portable format, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and withdraw any consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
To exercise your rights or to delete your account and learning data, contact: info@altfragen.com. In-app account and learning data deletion is available in your Profile.
